Just purchased a Q-kit and assembled the shaft at local shop. I have my custom Q club to be 37" which is same to my regular 7 iron following my intention to use the Q club similar to one length iron set. Just finished my first trial at driving range and it works good and I'll need to practice more to get used to it but I think it would work well and fulfill my need to bring fewer clubs to the course and simplify the swing mechanism.
My thought to the club thus far: 1) low loft off the tee works very well - with Hybrid (17 degree) I could reach 170 ~ 200 yds which fulfills my needs to replace long iron or hybrid or even fairway wood 2) I feel the swing mechanism have to be adjusted more close to like swinging a hybrid instead of my regular 7 iron, perhaps due to the larger and heavier head of the Q and also due to my custom shaft, which the shop assembled me a lighter and A-flex hybrid shaft instead of a R-flex on my regular irons. I feel like losing some control to the club and need to lower the swing speed 3) putter works but feel a bit hard to find sweet spot and this may be due to the head structure is iron or hybrid instead of regular putter. If to hit at sweet spot, you may have to keep flushing the club head over the ground during putting. I think introducing negative loft (ex. -5 degree or -10 degree) in the next generation may solve this problem.
Overall I'm happy with it and it enables me to play the game with much fewer clubs - just bringing the Q, or with a putter and a driver (or a fairway wood) since it is just an exercise or social activity to me and this fulfills my need. This generation Q is not suitable for competition yet since each of the regular clubs are specially designed for certain circumstance and the professionals have more detailed skill and control over the clubs. But for normal or leisure players it works very well and just need some practice to get used to it.
